In a significant move to improve governance efficiency and transparency, Meta Pool has successfully implemented Meta Pool Improvement Proposal 16 (MPIP-16)
The proposal introduces vote expiration cycles, a new mechanism designed to streamline decision-making, reduce stale participation, and enhance overall accountability within the DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).
Under the new system, all governance votes will automatically expire after 60 days. This means that any voting power allocated to a proposal or decision will no longer be counted beyond this window unless renewed.
The objective is to avoid outdated or forgotten votes skewing active proposals, and to ensure that only current and engaged participants influence ongoing governance processes.
Community members are encouraged to review their current voting positions and update them if needed.
This update will take effect starting on the 20th of this month, initially applying to those who voted in recent grant or meme rounds. Please note that each user’s expiration date depends on when they last voted, meaning vote validity is not the same for everyone. The community is invited to regularly review their voting activity to ensure their participation remains active and up to date.
Upcoming Livestream
To help explain the changes in detail and answer questions from the community, Meta Pool will host a livestream. The session will cover how vote expiration works, what users should expect, and broader DAO governance goals.
Meta Pool is a decentralized liquid staking platform that enables users to stake their tokens and earn rewards while maintaining liquidity. Initially launched on the NEAR Protocol, Meta Pool has since expanded to support multiple chains, contributing to the broader decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
At its core, Meta Pool empowers users to participate in network security and governance without sacrificing access to their funds. It also plays a vital role in democratizing staking, supporting validator decentralization, and enabling cross-chain functionality. As the protocol continues to grow, governance updates like MPIP-16 highlight its commitment to building robust, community-driven infrastructure for the future of DeFi.
