Trezor Adds Native eCash $XEC Support with Firmware 2.8.7 and Electrum ABC

Hardware wallet manufacturer, Trezor has released firmware version 2.8.7, which natively supports eCash ($XEC). The Electrum ABC 5.4.0 update has been integrated into the wallet to offer improved security, usability, and compatibility to make it safe for managing digital assets.

With the newest firmware upgrade, Trezor Model T, Safe 3, and Safe 5 have native support for eCash ($XEC). The Trezor devices can also display eCash addresses and transaction amounts in $XEC. This feature increases compatibility by following the eCash 899 derivation path, which allows smooth integration with $XEC wallets.

Electrum ABC 5.4.0 also enhances updates with support for Trezor hardware wallets, enabling users to interact with their eCash. The integration enhances wallet management and provides additional features, such as creating new wallets from SLIP-39 (Shamir) mnemonics and enhancing the recoverability of existing wallets.

This firmware update enhances the ease of use when restoring the wallet as no errors will be encountered. A major feature introduced is the auto-complete feature of seed words that shortens the time it takes to recover wallets from seed phrases. Users can also download the eCash logo and arrange their device’s home screen to suit their preferences.
