As part of this effort, the creators of the $DOGS meme coin have announced a $150,000 partnership and donation to shelters in collaboration with Best Friends Animal Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting millions of homeless animals across the U.S. Through this year-long partnership, $DOGS will support Best Friends’ “No-Kill Pledge” by funding one month of care for adopted dogs. The initiative also aims to inspire the crypto community and raise awareness about how they can contribute to this cause.

In 2023, U.S. shelters saved 3.97 million of the 4.76 million cats and dogs entering their doors—a save rate of approximately 83%. The no-kill philosophy prioritizes saving all animals who can be rehabilitated or rehomed, with no more than 10% unable to be saved due to severe medical or behavioral issues. Best Friends’ goal is to ensure every shelter achieves at least a 90% save rate by 2025.

The $DOGS beloved mascot, will take on the role of ambassador for ‘Best Friends’ Animal Society, appearing in events and marketing materials over the next year.
