Meta Pool Celebrates Its 4th Anniversary with a Proposal to Boost Voting Power up to 24x

Meta Pool has unveiled a new governance proposal aimed at strengthening community commitment through rewards proportional to token lock-up durations.

Under the name mpIP-[17], the initiative establishes significant vote-power multipliers for users willing to commit to longer staking periods. The goal is to align the most loyal community members with the long-term vision of the protocol.

How Will It Work?

The proposal introduces three new lock-up durations. Users who lock their tokens for 600 days will receive a 10x voting power multiplier within mpDAO. A 900-day commitment yields a 15x multiplier, while a 1440-day lock-up, roughly four years, grants the maximum 24x multiplier. This final option will only be available in August, as part of Meta Pool’s fourth anniversary celebration.

The system is based on a straightforward formula: Voting Power = Locked Tokens × (Days Locked ÷ 60). For example, locking 100 tokens for 1440 days equates to 2400 votes, giving long-term stakers considerable weight, even more than short-term whales.

The proposal is rooted in decentralized governance principles and the belief that sustained loyalty signals trust, commitment, and alignment with the protocol’s future.

As Vitalik Buterin famously stated: “Decentralized governance is only meaningful when there is skin in the game.” Meta Pool echoes this philosophy by rewarding conviction over speculative behavior.

In addition to increased voting power, users choosing long-term lock-ups will gain access to exclusive benefits. These include commemorative NFTs issued by ShardDog for four-year commitments, an NFT art contest with a $500 USDT prize, and early access to future governance activations and strategic campaigns.

This proposal does not affect token emissions but rather redistributes governance weight, promoting a more equitable and sustainable governance model. Meta Pool reaffirms its vision: “Those who stay, should shape.”
