General Updates

Neo Global Development announced the Encode Club edition of the Neo X Grind Hackathon. Encode Club is a global community of developers, professionals, and students contributing to the emerging technology field. First place will win US $3,500, second place will win $2,000, third place will win $1,500, and 10 runner-ups will each win $300 and an invitation to the second phase of the hackathon. The event begins on Sep. 11 and runs for approximately one month.

NGD Head of Eco Growth John Wang participated in a panel entitled Meme Coins: Ecosystem-Specific Insights at the Memecore and OKX Pheromones Party, a side event at Korea Blockchain Week 2024.

Neo shared a brief video highlighting Neo’s footprint at WebX Asia 2024 events and side events.

Neo kicked off the second month of the Neo Pod initiative and announced the winners for Aug. 2024. NeoPod is a structured rewards program that empowers dedicated community members to help expand the reach of the Neo multi-chain ecosystem. The program is managed on Zealy and allows users to collect points by completing various tasks to support the ecosystem.

Intersect Finance launched its borrow-and-lend platform on the Neo X EVM sidechain TestNet. While the team is launching support for EVM-based assets on Neo X, Intersect ultimately aims to offer support for Neo N3 assets on its platform. To incentivize activity, Intersect is currently running a points reward campaign to stress-test the protocol, offering users a share from a pool of 1 million points.

Asteroneo launched its USDC bridge on the Neo X EVM sidechain, the first such bridge on the recently launched blockchain. Now, users can migrate USDC from the BNB Chain and mint NeoUSD on the Neo X chain. The Asteroneo development team states that each NUSD token is collateralized by 1 USDC token on the BNB Chain. To help keep NUSD pegged to $1, Asteroneo has also deployed an arbitrage bot to help bring the price of NUSD to parity with $1 if it de-pegs. In an effort to increase the bridge’s security, Asteroneo purports to have implemented a simple, barebones structure to limit complicated processes and potential exploitations.

Flamingo Finance shared a recording of the August Community Lagoon, which noted the project’s roadmap, general cryptocurrency markets, and questions from the community and users of the DeFi platform.

Meme2Earn shared a recording of the August Community Fireplace, which touched upon updates to the meme-base platform, recent contests, future plans, the TIPS cryptocurrency, and more.

Gate.io integrated support for Carrot Swap into its non-custodial wallet.

GasPot conducted its third raffle draw. To enter, users could send 1 GAS or 3 NUSD tokens to the listed address.

Frank Coin created a video offering an overview of performing a cross-chain swap on Carrot Swap. Additionally, Frank Coin live-streamed a video session to showcase the Neo blockchain, games built on Neo, and conduct a token giveaway. And, Frank Coin hosted a community quiz on the team’s official Telegram channel, where the top three participants each won 70 FLM, and ten random winners each won 40 FRANK tokens. Frank Coin hosted a second quiz of the week with the same reward structure.

Developer Updates

Neo SPCC released Neo Exporter v0.12.1, which updated the minimum supported Go version across all repositories.

Neo SPCC released NeoFS OAuthZ v0.5.1, which included a minimum required Go version upgrade to 1.22, and a set of dependencies updates and ContentType header presence check for EACL rules.

Topics of discussion included Zero-Knowledge Proofs in Neo Go nodes, the FBI warning ETH and BTC ETF issuers of North Korean hackers targeting them, Mastercard launching a crypto-backed debit card in Europe, Pump.Fun reaching $100 million in revenue while most users are in the red, Intersect Finance points program going live, and BTC potentially not being the ideal choice for a cryptocurrency as a global reserve asset.
