The Ethereum Applications Guild (EAG) was created on October 2, 2025, by HashKey Group Chairman Xiao Feng and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The project is bringing developers, researchers, institutions, and teams to the Ethereum ecosystem. The prime objective of it fast-tracks the creation and deployment. Specifically of native Ethereum applications through the creation of an open, transparent and sustainable collaboration framework. EAG is not, like a foundation or accelerator, an open initiative. Instead an incubation hub based on the 2023 Shanhaiwu project by Xiao Feng. The project is at the initial phase of consensus and welcomes international collaboration by ETH treasury companies, Layer2 groups, developer communities, protocol organizations, and research institutions.
Goals and Strategic Implications
EAG refocuses Ethereum on more end user-centric development. Rather than infrastructure-centric development, with the goal of accelerating adoption in industry such as DeFi, NFTs, and DAOs, and gaming. The program also invites global participants to become part of it, and the resulting governance framework is decentralized. Adhering to the spirit of community self-governance at Ethereum.
Ethereium Ecosystem
By October 2025, Ethereum has a market valuation of about 500 billion resulting in its native token being traded at about $4,180. Ethereium DeFi in fact has a locked value in the range of 50 to 60 billion and the daily transactions average 1.2 million. Solutions that are Layer2, such as HashKey Chain, are better at improving the usability and scalability of dApps and provide a more ideal environment on which EAG can apply its application-centered approach.
The Chairman of HashKey Group, Xiao Feng, is the leader of Shanhaiwu and possesses vast Web3 experience and has a high level of influence in the region. As the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin is the force behind the transition to proof-of-stake in the network and the promotion of the use of decentralized applications worldwide. Their combination gives a vision and technical direction that EAG needs to succeed. At October 2, 2025, EAG is still at its initial consensus stage, establishing its community and governance forms. The project should also be able to compete with other blockchain environments, which may have an impact on the participation and adoption of developers.
