The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues to deepen its engagement with crypto regulation through its fourth Crypto Task Force roundtable, held today at 1 p.m. ET. This session, titled Tokenization: Moving Assets Onchain, spotlights the merging of traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi).

TradFi Giants Meet Blockchain Innovators at SEC Tokenization Forum

The SEC crypto roundtable on tokenization opened with remarks from key SEC figures, including Commissioners Caroline Crenshaw, Mark Uyeda, and Hester Peirce. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins then delivered the keynote, focusing on the regulatory approach to tokenization. After a short break, the 4 p.m. session, The Future of Tokenization, shifts focus to upcoming challenges and regulatory alignment. Tiffany Smith of WilmerHale moderates a panel of innovators from Chia Network, Robinhood, Securitize, Blockchain Capital, and Digital Asset.

Their discussion touches on institutional adoption, legal frameworks, and smart contract governance. Angela Walch, an independent researcher, underscores the need for clearer accountability in blockchain development.

A key highlight includes insights from Sidney Powell of Maple Finance and Georgia Quinn of Securitize, who stress the importance of building compliance-first solutions. They argue that tokenization can unlock global capital markets only if regulatory clarity improves.
