VeChain’s MugShot Initiative on VeBetterDAO Gives Users Potential to Save Over 3 Million Trees Per Year

VeChain CEO Sunny Lu shares impactful numbers about VeChain’s VeBetterDAO MugShot initiative. The project aims to reward users for good, sustainable, and impactful behaviour. In this case, MugShot and VeChain are rewarding users on VeBetterDAO for using reusable mugs over paper cups and saving over 3 million trees per year.

As we can see from the clip above, Sunny Luc, CEO of VeChain talks about the impact of one small eco-conscious move. In particular, he talks about coffee consumption and how consumers tend to lose track of the global impact of paper cup use when every individual uses 2-3 cups of coffee per week.

He says that in a ‘god’s eye view’ where when we take the whole world’s paper cup consumption into account just from weekly coffee consumption, it is a huge mark against sustainability. He highlights that 16 billion paper cups are made for coffee consumption every year and to make this 6.5 million trees are cut down.

Sunny Lu goes on to say that something when traveling and commuting it may be hard to replace this paper cup with reusable mugs but conscious living can be more rewarding in the long run. He says that setting a personal goal to reduce paper cup consumption by 50% would mean saving 3.25 million trees and that is no small impact on the environment.

He has said before that sustainable measures tend to be more expensive leading to many individuals and companies not adopting sustainable measures. Sunny Lu and VeChain believe that people and corporations that take sustainable steps should be rewarded and not punished. This is what VeBetterDAO set out to do.

Specifically, VeBetterDAO hosts multiple sustainability initiatives to reward users for sustainable actions like the GreenCart initiative rewarding users for buying sustainable goods. Similarly, MugShot rewards users for using reusable mugs. The VeFam is contributing greatly to a better world and gets rewarded for every contribution no matter how small.
