Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s family-backed cryptocurrency platform has been targeted by scammers, leading to over 70,000 users being misled with fake crypto giveaways. Scammers have posted fraudulent ads on the platform’s official Telegram channel, diverting users to a fake group promising $15,000 in cryptocurrency.

Donald Trump’s family-backed cryptocurrency platform, World Liberty Financial, has been targeted by scammers, misleading over 70,000 users with fake cryptocurrency giveaways.

Since its launch last month, the platform has attracted more than 230,000 subscribers on its official Telegram channel, positioning itself as a challenger to big banks. However, cybercriminals have exploited this popularity by placing ads on the legitimate channel, diverting users to a fraudulent group named “World Liberty Financial Airdrop.” This fake channel, which now has 74,741 subscribers on Telegram as of this writing, falsely promises up to $15,000 in cryptocurrency to those who connect their crypto wallets, putting their funds at risk.

The official Telegram channel for World Liberty Financial has responded with several warning messages to its followers, stating:

Please be aware of scams and fake tokens claiming to be associated with ‘Defiant Ones,’ ‘World Liberty,’ or similar names. Do not engage with these tokens.

The message also provided tips on identifying fake ads, emphasizing that genuine posts will never have the label “Sponsored” or “Ad.” Users are urged to report any suspicious content to Telegram and remain vigilant. One message advised:

Please do not click on any ads or links that claim to be associated with World Liberty Financial. We are NOT doing any airdrops or selling any tokens at this time.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to advocate for his pro-crypto policies, calling himself the “crypto president” and proposing a “national bitcoin stockpile” if elected. The former president recently launched his fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
