Shiba Inu Issues Coinbase Alert: This Email Can Steal Your Funds

The Shiba Inu community has received an urgent warning after reports surfaced of a fake Coinbase email scam targeting cryptocurrency holders.

In a tweet by Susbarium Shibarium Trust Watch, a Shiba Inu X-focused account dedicated to uncovering scams, the Shiba Inu community was urged to stay vigilant, as a fraudulent email posing as communication from the Coinbase Compliance Team has begun to circulate.

The scam email, which appears to come from Coinbase, urges recipients to confirm their account details or risk restricted access to sending, selling and transferring cryptocurrency.

Susbarium added that this is a scam designed to steal personal information, with the end goal of stealing user funds. In light of this, Susbarium outlined a few safety tips for crypto users. First, they should avoid clicking any links or downloading attachments in the email. Shiba Inu holders are urged never to provide their account credentials or recovery phrases. Lastly, they should report and delete the email immediately.

As phishing scams are currently on the rise, Shiba Inu holders are urged to always verify suspicious communications by logging directly into the official Coinbase website or app. They should also share the warning with other users to protect the community and enable extra protection on their accounts, such as two-factor authentication.

The Shiba Inu-focused X account also warned the SHIB community about an increasing number of impersonator accounts posing as official Shiba Inu representatives, a tactic being used to mislead holders, direct to fake links and steal personal information.

Susbarium also cautioned the Shiba Inu community to beware of fake airdrop scams. This is because scammers are sending out emails and messages claiming to offer free token airdrops. These fraudulent offers often request to verify their accounts or provide wallet details, putting their funds at risk.

As a key warning, it is reiterated that Shiba Inu holders should avoid suspicious links and never click on random links, even if they appear real. They should also protect their wallets and never share private keys or seed phrases.
