Millionaire Investor Anthony Scaramucci Makes Hot Comments About Solana: “When I Bought Bitcoin 5 Years Ago, Everyone Criticized Me, But Now…”

Anthony Scaramucci, founder and managing partner of SkyBridge Capital and author of the forthcoming book “The Solana Rise: Investing in the Cryptocurrency Fast Lane,” discussed the rise of Solana, how it can be positioned in cryptocurrency portfolios, and the changing regulatory landscape in the U.S. during an appearance on Squawk Box.

Scaramucci describes Solana as a Layer-1 blockchain, similar to Ethereum, that enables very fast transactions in DeFi. According to Scaramucci, in the coming years, several major Layer-1 solutions like Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and Hyperliquid will form the “blockchain rail system,” and smart contracts and securities tokenization will occur on these infrastructures. “These can coexist; there doesn’t have to be a single winner,” he says. “If there’s more than one major player in cloud computing, there will be more than one mainnet in the tokenization world.”

Referring to Solana’s key features, Scaramucci summarizes the network’s technical features as “cheap, very fast, and developer-friendly.” He notes that transaction fees are sub-penny and tens of thousands of transactions per second are possible. He argues that Solana’s use of both proof-of-stake and time-stamping proof-of-history mechanisms increases transaction finality and speed. While not as distributed as Ethereum, he notes that the number of nodes on Solana is growing rapidly, making the network increasingly more distributed.

Scaramucci notes that SkyBridge holds a significant amount of Solana on its balance sheet, and his motivation for writing the book was to explain the technology to both corporate clients and the traditional financial world.

In terms of his portfolio approach, he also likes Solana, Ethereum, and Avalanche, along with Bitcoin: “Five years ago, I was slammed by the traditional financial world for buying Bitcoin at an institutional level, but now they’re all coming into the market. We’re at a similar point today with Solana; I think in five years, when we look back, we’ll say, ‘It was a good entry level.’”

On the regulatory front, Scaramucci argues that a more crypto-friendly framework has emerged under SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and President Donald Trump, which he argues is “transformative” for the industry. However, he argues that the “pendulum-like” regulatory approach in Washington poses the biggest risk to crypto, emphasizing that regulations for the industry must be bipartisan, transparent, and fair to consumers. He points to David Sachs’ draft bipartisan executive order, which he presented at the beginning of the year, as a positive example.

Scaramucci compares the adoption of Solana and other Tier-1 networks to the early internet and the wild swings Amazon experienced after its IPO. He recalls Amazon’s 80-90% loss in value during the 2000 dot-com crash, saying, “If you have fundamentally good technology and a solid use case, you should hold it for the long term, despite the volatility.”
