Crypto Market Set for Massive Shift: $13B in Tokens Unlocking Over the Next Six Months

Tokenomist reported that, within the next six months, about $13 billion worth of tokens are set to be unlocked. The cryptocurrency sector may experience significant changes due to this event. Some months will see a significant rise in deployments, and these changes will not be steady. AI, meme coins, and Layer 2 sectors are set to play a significant role in the upsurge.

AI, Meme, and DePIN Tokens Set for Major Unlocks

Among all, the AI sector will release the largest amount, with a total of $3.4 billion in token unlocks. The release is set to peak in October. The AI token’s largest allocation will be the WLD token, representing $1.29 billion, or approximately 37% of the AI unlocks. The unlocks of TAO and GRASS will result in releases of about 11.6%($427M worth) and 68.2%($410M worth) tokens, respectively. The rise of AI-related tokens is expected to impact the whole market.

A total of $2.8 billion in meme tokens is set for a possible release in the near future. The biggest release will happen in July, and the $TRUMP token will account for 72.5% of those unlocks.

While DOGE and MELANIA will have token releases, the attention will mainly stay on $TRUMP.

Over $1.38 billion in tokens will be released in the DePIN sector, and October is forecast to see the most unlockings. The majority of DePIN emissions will come from TAO and GRASS. TAO will unlock $427 million(11.6%) worth of tokens, and GRASS will unlock about $410 million (68.2%) worth. The effect of such token releases is likely to lead to market swings, particularly in October.

RWA, Liquid Staking, and SocialFi Set for Major Token Unlocks

In the RWA sector, $304 million worth of tokens will be unlocked. ZBCN, USUAL, and OM are expected to dominate this field. The month with the highest demand will be November. Liquid Restaking is expected to see a $665 million increase in November, led by ETHFI’s release of $302 million, which accounts for most of the value.

Over $1.15 billion in tokens will be released from Liquid Staking during August’s peak. According to projections, ENA will have the largest share in this industry, worth $484 million. Layer 2 is set to unleash $1.27 billion, led by big pushes from ARB and OP. The SocialFi sector is on track for a significant release of $1.26 billion, and CHEEL and CONX are at the forefront. IMX is expected to lead the $520 million drop in game sales.

The unlocking of these tokens will cause the crypto market to become more volatile, bringing both chances and risks. Their impact on the market will shape its future trend over the next few months.
