What Happened on an Altcoin Network Caused Alarm: Developers Issue a Statement

Injective has issued a statement regarding the temporary deactivation of some validators following an accelerated network update within its ecosystem. The project stated that the Injective blockchain has not been attacked and that user funds are not at risk.

According to a statement from Injective, community contributors coordinated an accelerated network upgrade yesterday. However, because it took longer than expected for all validators and ecosystem infrastructure to complete the update, some validators who failed to complete the upgrade within the allotted time were temporarily jailed.

As a result of this development, there was a short-term decrease in the total amount of staking on the network, while some cryptocurrency exchanges also temporarily suspended INJ deposit and withdrawal transactions.

Injective stated that the incident did not affect the security of the blockchain network. The statement clarified that the core protocol and consensus mechanism were not compromised in any way, and users or staked funds did not experience any loss or risk. It was specifically noted that the network continued to process transactions and there was no shutdown on the blockchain.

The project also provided information regarding the reason for the accelerated upgrade. According to them, the update was implemented following an attack targeting several binary options applications within the Injective ecosystem.

Injective stated that the attack only affected the relevant applications and did not utilize the Injective blockchain, its underlying protocol, native assets, or consensus mechanism. They reported that the attack method was identified and contained, and the vulnerability was fixed.
