The IOTA Foundation has been selected to participate in the renowned TradeTech Regulatory Sandbox, co-hosted by the World Economic Forum, the UAE Ministry of Economy, and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED). The initiative focuses on several key use cases in trade finance, including Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and digital identity.
Amid these developments in the IOTA ecosystem, the organization announced the launch of IOTA Rebased. This puts IOTA on par with three production Layer 1 blockchains that natively support the Move programming language. Following the community’s adoption of the IOTA Rebased protocol upgrade in December 2024, the foundation has launched two different testing environments: Public Testnet and DevNet. These frameworks are designed to ensure stability, security, and functionality before the Rebased protocol is released to the mainnet.
The Public Testnet is designed for continuous testing of applications and protocol upgrades. Unlike earlier versions, this environment operates without periodic resets, supporting long-term testing and interim updates before deployment. DevNet is a controlled experimental platform used to test new protocol features that are in development. Both testing environments are now live, encouraging developers, validators, and users to engage with the Rebased protocol. They can provide feedback as the foundation prepares for the mainnet launch.
